This month, we’re spotlighting our Account Executive, Dale Duppong. Read on to learn more about his almost 30-year background in IT consulting, how he fills his time outside of work, and his childhood hero!

Describe your experience before joining the Emergent Software team

I have had a passion for the IT consulting industry for decades, having started my career in the industry in 1993. Over that span of time, I have witnessed, and enjoyed, all of what the technology industry has had to offer in applying technology to resolve business issues, including the .com era, Y2K readiness era, mainframe to client-server revolution, mobile development era, data analytics era, and currently, our time of cloud migration and data transformation.

What drew you to join Emergent Software?

What interested me in Emergent Software was its impressive growth and dynamic marketing presence for such a young organization and its three pillars of competencies in the Microsoft stack of technology: custom software development, SQL Server/data analytics, and Azure cloud consulting.

How do you fill your time outside of work?

There are a ton of things that keep me busy outside of work! First and foremost, I love being a fiance and father for an incredible family. I also play trombone and am a member of the Prior Lake Community Band, the Windjammers. I love woodworking and work with live edge and burl wood building unique furniture pieces. Lastly, I love to play golf!

What is your favorite book/video game/movie/TV show?

Here are my rapid-fire answers:

  • Favorite book is Confederacy of Dunces-John Kennedy Toole
  • Favorite video game is Asteroids and Pac-man (I realize this might date me!)
  • Favorite movie is The Guardian with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher
  • Favorite TV show is Yellowstone

What was your first job?

At 16, I went to work for the Milwaukee Railroad on a rail raising crew. We replaced railroad ties, tamped in new gravel, and leveled the track from Rhame, North Dakota to Baker Montana. (33 miles of track) I grew up a lot that summer! First sales job after graduating college was selling Microfiche equipment for Woodmansee Office Equipment (3M dealership in Bismarck North Dakota)

Who was your childhood hero?

Roy Rodgers was a very popular cowboy show at the time, and my room was filled with toy figures like his horse, Trigger, and his right-hand man Tonto! Plus, his wife’s name was…Dale (haha).

Thanks for sharing your story and for being an awesome asset on our team, Dale! We’re thrilled to have you. Stay tuned for future spotlights of the great people who make up Emergent Software!
