We are thrilled to announce that for the second year in a row, Emergent Software has been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work by the Minneapolis/St Paul Business Journal! We are proud to have the unique company culture we’ve built be recognized and valued by our team. View the full list of winners in the Small Business category here!

To qualify for the award, the Minneapolis/St Paul Business Journal facilitates third-party employee satisfaction surveys, which are sent out to our team to be filled out anonymously. The fact that our team is willing to speak so highly of us in an anonymous survey is a testament to the great culture we’ve created!

We pride ourselves on an environment where our team’s voice is truly heard and for the ability for everyone to make an impact.

What’s so special about Emergent Software?

Every company has the same spiel about how great they are, but we truly believe the culture we’ve built at Emergent Software is a cut above the rest. Here are a few unique benefits to being a part of our team:

  • Flexible work environment and hours. Before remote working became the reality for many, we were founded on the idea that great work does not have to take place at the same time or in the same space every day. We encourage our team to work in whatever environment and during the hours that fit their schedule best.
  • Professional development time to further your career. We know that your interests stem beyond your job duties. To invest in our team, we offer every team member 100 hours per year of professional development time to further their career development whether it be through additional certifications, attending industry conferences, contributing to open-source projects, and more.
  • Ability to make an impact with clients in unique ways. We strive to be our clients’ long-term technology partner and with that, our team has the ability to make an impact with clients in unique ways.

What does our team like most about working at Emergent Software?

It’s an honor to hear from our team about how much they love to work at Emergent Software. Take a look at what our team has to say about what they love most about our culture! While we’re at it, let’s reminisce on a few team events that have happened in the last year.

“I have been with Emergent Software for nearly a year, and it has been the highlight of my career thus far. I felt welcomed immediately and have always felt that all my coworkers are helpful, passionate, and exceptionally good at what they do. Being part of a team that so consistently delivers such high-quality software is something that I take great pride in, and working with them on that software is incredibly fulfilling. Coming to Emergent Software was an incredible career move for me, and given the choice, I would do it again.”

Our first (of many) virtual happy hours during the pandemic. Even though we weren’t able to be together in person, virtual happy hours were a great way to connect (and enjoy a drink!)

“I love working at Emergent Software! As employees, we’re given a lot of autonomy and flexibility because the leadership trusts us. I have great co-workers and I learn something new almost daily.”

In January 2020, one of our team members hosted a whiskey tasting and taught us more about the complex flavors in whiskey.

“Even as I was going through the interview process, I was struck by how Emergent Software cared for their employees as people, instead of just cogs in a machine. In an industry where developers are often evaluated entirely on what they are able to output, and how quickly, Emergent Software breaks the mold by investing in their employee’s personal growth and well-being. Keeping my skills up to date and working on new ideas for the team can be challenging if I am expected to do this on top of doing a full week of billable work - Emergent recognizes the value in personal growth and provides a program where we can work on new skills and idea as part of our job duties instead of on our own time, believing it will lead to a stronger team overall.”

In September 2020, we hosted a socially distant picnic for our team to reconnect and for our new team members to finally meet in person. In this picture, we’re playing a lawn game called Kubb, which got competitive very quickly!

Again, a massive thank you to our entire team for voting us as one of the Best Places to Work by the Minneapolis St Paul Business Journal! We are absolutely thrilled to see how our culture has grown and cannot wait to see what’s in store for our talented team. Read our official spotlight and press release
